BAD WEATHER POLICIES

Are We Having Class Today?
Students must, of course, exercise their own judgment on
travel during extremely inclement weather.
HOWEVER,
if the college is open, we
are having class. I am
required to be on campus holding classes whenever the college is open, bad
weather or not. As such, when the
college is open ALL
COURSE POLICIES APPLY
even if you think it is not safe to drive.
In other words, DO NOT CALL ME TO ASK IF WE ARE HAVING CLASS.
If the college is open, we are.
How Do I Find Out if We Are Having Class?

The quick answers – LISTEN TO WCCO AM RADIO!!!!!
or WATCH YOUR FAVORITE NETWORK STATION!!! OR go to the
IHCC home page and click on
'class cancellations' in the left column.
The long answer - The
authority to close the college campus when a weather or other emergency exists
reside with the president of the campus. The
closure of State agencies does not apply to MnSCU institutions, including Inver
Hills.
The decision to close the college is based on information
regarding conditions on campus, current weather reports, road reports, closures
by local school districts and employers, and the availability of current
services.
Closure of the college will typically involve the
cancellation of all scheduled classes, activities, and events. However, off-campus classes may be conducted during periods
when the main Inver Hills campus is closed in cases where it is safe to do so.
Conversely, only off-campus classes may be canceled.
Special announcements will be made in all such cases.
Notification of college closing will be communicated to
employees by the following methods.
Morning and afternoon closures (8am – 5:30pm) and
All day and evening closures (8am-10pm)
Decisions to close all day and evening, or morning
and afternoon, will be made by 6:30am on the day of the closure.
A recorded announcement of the closure will be made by the college
president on the college’s main telephone number, 651.450.8500.
College closures will also be broadcast on WCCO AM radio.
Evening only closures (5:30 – 10pm)
Decisions to close for the evening
will be made by 3pm on the day of the closure.
A recorded announcement of the closure will be placed on the college’s
main telephone number, 651.450.8500, and the announcement will also be given as
a broadcast message on the college’s voice mail system. College closures will also be broadcast on WCCO AM radio.
