Attendance Policies
SPEECH 1100 - Interpersonal Communication
Please note that attendance and participation in
class is essential to course objectives.
Your consistent and active participation in class is
vital to your learning and to the learning of your classmates.
Your attendance in class is expected as articulated
in the college’s Class Attendance policy.
Absences will negatively affect your grade.
You may miss 150 minutes of class with no penalty.
After that,
1 point will be
deducted from your final point total for each 10 minutes of class time missed
and may also negatively affect your professionalism score.
SPEECH 1110 - Public Speaking
Please note that attendance and participation in
class is essential to course objectives.
Your consistent and active participation in class is vital to your
learning and to the learning of your classmates.

SPEECH 2240 - Intercultural Communication

You may miss 150 minutes of class with no penalty.
After that, 1 point will be
deducted from your final point total for each 10 minutes of class time
missed and may also negatively affect your professionalism score.
SPEECH 2230 - Small Group Communication
Please
note that attendance in class and group meetings is essential to course
objectives. With small group
numbers, your consistent and active participation plays a crucial role in group
development and productivity.
You will receive three points for each class session if you are present when the class begins (if you're late, NO POINTS) and stay through the entire class session (if you leave early, NO POINTS). Excessive absences will reflect negatively on your participation grade.
Although considerable class time is allocated for group meetings, groups will probably find it necessary to meet outside regularly scheduled class time.
Students who miss more than four (4) class hours will result in failure of the course. The instructor does not distinguish between excused and unexcused absences.
